Michael Owen still believes Arsenal will finish fifth this coming season, but believes there is potential to prove him wrong again.
Former England international striker Michael Owen has re-affirmed his belief Arsenal will finish outside the top four.
He said: "I still believe they are a couple of players short to worry the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City and a presence in the centre of midfield is a must.
"Champions League qualification could be the realistic aim once again and although I have placed them at 5th I wouldn't be at all surprised if they pipped Liverpool to fourth spot."
Owen took plenty of stick for his prediction the Gunners would not make the top four last season, which he stuck to even when the club were top of the league in the New Year.
His view that the club are not genuine title contenders was backed by Gary Neville, who also told SkySports:
"Are Arsenal realistic title contenders? I don’t think so.
"For me, until I see a real strong and powerful presence in midfield and potentially another centre-forward and maybe a centre-back I’m not sure."
