Manchester City captain Tweets he is 'proud and honoured' with new deal

Vincent Kompany is very happy to have signed a new deal with Manchester City.

Manuel Pellegrini may have confirmed yesterday that the signing of Eliaquim Mangala was the conclusion of their transfer business it does not mean the club have stopped with contract negotiations - it seems with their own players.

Yesterday, just 24 hours after announcing that creative midfielder David Silva had signed a new five-year deal at the club they tied down an even more important player to a new contract - the club captain Vincent Kompany.

Interestingly not a player bought with the Emirati millions instead Kompany signed in 2008 from Hamburg in a deal believed to be worth around £6 million.

Since then he has gone on to become one of the best defenders in the world, and possibly the best in the Premier League - helping the club win two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and one League Cup during his time in Manchester - and is now bequeathed to The Citizens until 2019, when he will be 33-years-old.

And Kompany, who is now targeting the Champions League crown, has Tweeted his joy at signing a new deal with the club.
