Leeds United supporters are delighted with the club's signing of Billy Sharp from Southampton.
Leeds United fans are delighted with the side’s addition of Billy Sharp.
The striker completed a move to Elland Road from Southampton yesterday and it has provided Leeds fans with some much needed optimism that the club can push on this season.
Sharp comes with quite a pedigree and a proven goalscoring record at this level and looks to be an excellent addition to the White’s line-up.
He will be expected to be their main goal threat and his past record suggest that he has all the credentials to do just that.
The 28-year-old has bagged goals at Championship level for Scunthorpe, Doncaster, Saints, Nottingham Forest and Reading in his career to date and he will be hoping to have similar success at Elland Road.
He joins a Leeds at a point when anticipation is running high following a clutch of singings and a win over Accrington Stanley in the League Cup.
Whites fans had originally been worried about the season ahead when they lost dismally to Millwall on the opening day of the season, but the club’s actions since then have encouraged them that all is not lost.
Head-coach David Hockaday remains a divisive figure among the supporters, but the signings who have come in during the week have meant that there is a lot of positivity about the Yorkshire side at the moment.
Sharp joins Liam Cooper and Giuseppe Bellusci in joining Leeds this week, but it’s fair to say that the signing of the striker is the one which has got Leeds fans talking the most.
Social media has been awash with excited supporters looking forward to seeing the new goal-getter in action and below we display some of the best tweets over his transfer.

To be fair... McCormack out for 10 mill, then Sharp in for a fraction is genius. #lufc— Simon Haddock (@Si_Haddock) August 13, 2014
Delighted we signed Billy Sharp I've always liked him, only complaint is that he scored too many against us, now score more for us! #lufc— Demo (@Lord_FauL) August 13, 2014
So we've signed Bellusci,Cooper, Sharp and are in talks with Rotheram over Agard? It's looking up all of a sudden! #lufc— -Mark (@mchapman98) August 13, 2014
The only problem I have with signing Sharp is it wasn't done 4 years ago. Wanted him and we signed Paynter. #lufc— Grav Prosser (@GravProsser) August 13, 2014
I loved the close passing in the first half last night. Billy Sharp is a great signing. For the first time in years I feel #Lufc positivity.— Lord Armley (@LordArmley) August 13, 2014
