Chelsea transfer news: £18m star linked with Spain move; £50m man says Blues will miss him

Andre Schurrle, Germany National Football Team

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Chelsea

Chelsea player Andre Schurrle is the subject of an approach from Atletico Madrid according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims the Spanish side have approached their English counterparts to discuss the possibility of taking the German international to La Liga.

Schurrle shone at this summer’s World Cup and remains an important – if not vital – part of Jose Mourinho’s squad.

But with the number of similar players now at Stamford Bridge, it remains to be seen how many games the £18million man will get once the new campaign kicks off.

In other news, former Chelsea player David Luiz has said the Blues will miss both him and Frank Lampard next season.

In quotes published by ESPN after originally appearing in the Sun, the Brazilian said, “I have to believe that Chelsea or any team will miss me.

“I’m not arrogant but I’m confident in my own abilities.”

Paris Saint Germain’s £50million summer signing also spoke of Lampard, saying, “I can only speak about my experience playing with Frank and I still think he has lots to offer at the highest level.”

Despite those comments, Chelsea fans may well look at their summer arrivals and believe they are considerably better off than they were last season.
