Emmanuel Frimpong has reportedly been released after a three-week trial at Sturm Graz

The 22-year-old midfielder's fall from grace is has been huge in recent seasons. Frimpong, an Arsenal youth product, once looked like he could be an great player for the Gunners.

However two cruciate knee ligament injuries and unsuccessful loan spells at Wolves, Charlton and Fulham have seen the player fail to reach the levels that his potential promised.

Whilst they were in the Championship last season Barnsley decided to purchase the Arsenal outcast for an undisclosed fee. His career with the Yorkshire side could not have gotten off to a worse start as he was sent off within 31 minutes of his debut against Sheffield Wednesday.

He only made eight more appearances for the Tykes after that, and when they were eventually relegated back into League One they opted to release the youngster.

In an effort to revive his career, the one-time Ghana international joined Austrian side Sturm Graz on a three-week trial.

Frimpong hoped that the trial would earn him a permanent contract with the side who finished fifth in the Austrian Bundesliga last season.

But the Metro are reporting that Graz have passed on the option to sign the midfielder permanently, meaning he is likely to be without a club for the start of the 2014/15 football season.

It could be said that the young player got caught up in all the football fame and lost his way. He is famous on social media websites Twitter and Instagram for his controversial outbursts. One that springs to mind the most is the "How am I gonna draw girls now" post he wrote minutes after signing for Barnsley.

At least if all else fails for Frimpong he will have his 'Stay Dench' clothing label to keep him going...
