Metal Gear Solid V Phantom Pain trailer shows off swimsuit box decoys

Metal Gear Solid V Gamescom 2014 Box Demo

Konami and Kojima have released a new gameplay video that shows players the new ways they can use the famous box disguise.

The latest Metal Gear title from Kojima Productions and Konami is due early 2015, and in anticipation of that release we’ve been given a glimpse at the new ways players will be able to utilise the famous box disguise in the game.

During Sony’s Gamescom 2014 press conference the video for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain explained and showed the many new features of the humble cardboard box. Players can now pop out the top of the box to take out enemies with a swift shot of their pistol, and then quickly hideaway back inside. The box itself can be used as a decoy, with Snake rapidly sliding out of the side of the box to make his getaway.

The most standout features however, are the decoys. By using pictures of soldiers displayed on the outside of the box, Snake can now confuse enemies into thinking he’s one of their own. There’s also pictures of half-naked swimsuit models that can be displayed, which cause guards to quickly run towards you to gawk at the image, only for Snake to then take them out. Oh yeah, and you can wear a PS4 box on your head. Have a look at the video below.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is due for release in Q1 2015 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
