All the latest summer transfer news from La Liga...
Manchester United's pursuit of Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado continues to dominate speculation in the British press, but PSG's refusal to sign Real Madrid star Angel di Maria has interested United once again. The Argentine international will almost certainly leave the Bernabeu this summer after the club's big money purchase of James Rodriguez, and speculation today suggests that the Red Devils have opened talks over a €50m move.
Should di Maria leave, then Real could make yet another big money capture in Monaco's Radamel Falcao. Spanish football expert Sid Lowe believes that once di Maria leaves the club, Falcao will become a Real player - it's just a waiting game for now.
"I think the likelihood is that it (Falcao to Real Madrid) will happen this summer," said Lowe. "I’d be very, very surprised if it doesn’t happen, but there seem to be one or two things still waiting to be confirmed before this deal goes ahead. To give you an example of a number of the reasons why we think this will happen, is that it’s been talked about quite openly, albeit not publicly, around Real Madrid about where Falcao fits into the team, if and when the deal finally happens."
"Manchester United have been told that there is no point in trying to sign him because he is going to Real Madrid. I think they’ll be waiting to see what happens with Angel Di Maria before they finally commit, but I will be very surprised if the window closes and Falcao is not a Real Madrid player."
Elsewhere, city rivals Atletico Madrid have brought in another striker as Mexican international Raul Jimenez will join Mario Mandzukic in the Spanish capital from Club America in an £8.5m deal, whilst Barcelona's pursuit of a full back has reportedly led them to Borussia Monchengladbach star Fabian Johnson, who impressed for the United States at the World Cup.
