New FPS title in the works from Doom co-creator John Romero

John Romero

John Romero, co-creator of Doom talks about a new first person shooter he’s started working on.

There’s no specifics about the game to share at the moment, but John Romero says he’s currently developing ‘several games’ one of which is to be a brand new FPS title.

"I'm working on several games at once right now," Romero told Joystiq  "But [Brenda Romero] had mentioned earlier that I'm working with a concept artist, and so I've got some cool imagery for the main character," he added..

Romero went on to state, "I haven't made a shooter since 2000. So I'm basically starting to work on another one,"

The last FPS to come from Romero was Daikitaka, released on PC and Nintendo 64 in 2000. Despite generating its fair share of hype leading up to launch, Daikitaka was largely slated by reviewers and stands for some as one of the most disappointing games of the era.

Romero co-founded id Games and worked on many of the companies most iconic FPS titles the likes of Quake, Doom and Wolfenstein. He states the new game will be coming from his own indie studio Romero Games.

We’ll be keeping a look-out for any developments and will keep you posted.
