Manchester United transfer news: Former club star wants Di Maria stay, Juventus ‘good option’ for striker

Manchester United have long been linked with a move for Real Madrid winger Angel di Maria, but there is a one club legend who does not want the Argentina international to leave for Old Trafford.

According to Spanish newspaper El Confidencial, the Madrid forward wants Di Maria to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu and is reportedly trying to convince the 26-year-old to shun a move to the Premier League giants.

Ronaldo is a United legend, having won the league thrice, the FA Cup once, the League Cup twice and the Champions League once during his six years with the Manchester outfit between 2003 and 2009.

One player who has been consistently linked with a move away from United is Mexican striker Javier Hernandez.

The 26-year-old has been on the books of the Red Devils since 2010, but his time with England’s biggest club appears to be coming to an end after new manager Louis van Gaal reportedly put him up for sale.

Mexico coach Miguel Herrera believes that leaving United will be a good move for Hernandez and will help him revive his career.

‘I think [Chicharito] needs to leave’, he told ESPN. ‘I think [Juventus] would be a good option for him... I think there are a lot of opportunities. They are not bad opportunities.

‘If he goes to Juventus that would be an extraordinary team. Without a doubt, it would be a nice change for him. Hopefully he'll see more minutes’.

Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund have once again stated that star defender Mats Hummels is not for sale.

The Germany international centre-back, who is believed to be on the radar of United, was recently made the new captain of the Bundesliga outfit (click here to read more).

‘He (Hummels) is going nowhere’, the Manchester Evening News quotes Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp as saying. ‘He is staying with us’.
