PHOTO: Jurgen Klopp touches iconic Liverpool sign on way to pitch

Borussia Dortmund manager made sure to get his hands on iconic sign in the Liverpool tunnel ahead of the 4-0 result at the weekend.

Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp was photographed touching the iconic This Is Anfield sign on his way to the pitch ahead of his side's pre-season friendly against hosts Liverpool on Sunday, August 10.

The act may have cursed the BvB boss as his team suffered a heavy 4-0 loss to the Premier League hopefuls, proving it was Brendan Rodgers who perhaps had the magic touch.

One of Rodgers's summer signings, Dejan Lovren, opened his account from a defensive position after a Steven Gerrard set-piece, while Daniel Sturridge converted a superb strike via a Philippe Coutinho flick on.

Brazilan playmaker Coutinho, who will be entrusted with even more first-team responsibility this season, then scored himself ahead of midfielder Jordan Henderson completing the rout by virtue of a Sturridge assist.

Liverpool mounted a commendable challenge for domestic honours last season but were pipped to the Premier League post by Manchester City. They begin their campaign on Sunday, August 17, against Southampton, a club they thrice raided over the course of the summer transfer window.

Dortmund, meanwhile, have little time to recover from the defeat as they contest the German Super Cup against Bayern Munich on Wednesday, August 13 at Signal Iduna Park.
