Turkish Super Lig side Gaziantepspor have completed the signing of former Newcastle United star and current free agent Shola Ameobi.
The club took to their official Twitter account to announce the news, revealing that the Nigeria international had signed a contract with the club alongside an image of the 32-year-old.
It brings an end to the speculation surrounding the former Newcastle man, who spent nearly 14 years with the Toon prior to departing the club at the end of last season.
There had been some suggestion that Ameobi could remain in the Premier League, with Hull City among those thought to be keen on the veteran forward.
A number of Australian sides were also thought to be keen on the forward, with Sydney FC weighing up whether to make the international striker their designated player for the forthcoming season, while there was even talk of a move to China.
The international interest in Ameobi comes just weeks after the striker featured for Nigeria at the World Cup in Brazil, impressing for the Super Eagles as a target man and impact sub at the tournament.
Ameobi scored 53 goals during his time with Newcastle and was a favourite among the fans after scoring several times over the years against local rivals Sunderland.
The Zaria-born forward played for England at under-21 level, scoring seven goals in 20 games before switching his allegiance to Nigeria – the country of his birth.
Ameobi is the latest Premier League star to move to Turkey, following in the footsteps of recent additions like Scott Carson, Anton Ferdinand and Darius Vassell.
Former Newcastle United favourite Les Ferdinand also spent time on loan in the region during the early stages of his career.
