Welcome to Vanchester billboard unveiled in city centre. What would Fergie think?

A huge billboard in Manchester city centre has been unveiled showing Louis Van Gaal and the slogan 'Welcome to Vanchester'.

Akin to the famous Welcome to Manchester sign showing Carlos Tevez's arrival at Manchester City, United now have their own billboard in the city centre. Just a few yards away from Piccadilly Gardens there is a huge red billboard signalling that Manchester United are back to dominate proceedings in the city.

Manchester United fans will be happy to see Van Gaal already making his mark on the city, and Betfair are the company behind the stunt, playing on the fact Manchester City unveiled a similar billboard to stir up rivalry in the city. The below was unveiled shortly after Carlos Tevez completed his move to Manchester City in 2009.

Sir Alex Ferguson wasn't too happy about that approach from City and at the time had the following to say, "It's City isn't it? They are a small club with a small mentality. All they can talk about is Manchester United; they can't get away from it. That arrogance will be rewarded. It is a go at us, that's the one thing it is. They think taking Carlos Tevez away from Manchester United is a triumph. It is poor stuff."

One can only wonder what Fergie thinks of the 'Welcome to Vanchester' sign.
