Destiny Community Manager, David Dague, posted a new update about the game last week to basically explain that the characters you created in the beta would not be seen again, as well as your items left in your vault. The ultimate reason for this is that since the beta the devs have ‘continued to tune and adjust the game’, so if the Guardians that were created during the beta were left in the game they would be ‘in strange shape that would be confusing at best, broken at worst’. A clean slate it is then, which makes sense to us.
Before I came to play the Destiny beta last month I wasn’t super excited about the game, like I’m sure many others were. I was neutral, I was ready to play and take in what was happening, to then write up a review and let you all know what I thought. Well, it’s safe to say I was pleasantly surprised, and by the end of my time with the game I’d grown attached to my characters. But although I was attached, I didn’t expect to be able to play as them again when the game gets its full release next month anyway, that’s why the news from Bungie’s weekly update didn’t surprise or affect me. I'm looking forward to creating some new Guardians next month, and you can check out our review of the game some time after its release.
The update promises more to be shown at Gamescom in Germany this week too, so we’ll keep our eyes out for any further info and let you know.
