Arsenal player ratings v Man City: Cazorla & Giroud prove doubters wrong

The Gunners outclassed Manchester City to win the Community Shield with a comfortable 3-0 victory.

Wojciech Szczesny - 7/10

The Polish shot stopper looked solid when called upon but will be tested a lot more when the Premier League season comes around.

Kieran Gibbs - 7/10

Gibbs produced a polished performance as he dealt with City's threat down the left-hand side.

Calum Chambers - 8/10

The young defender played at centre-back and coped extremely well in Per Mertesacker's absence, especially after Laurent Koscielny came off at the break.

Laurent Koscielny - 6/10

The Frenchman lasted 45 minutes and didn't do much wrong, though he wasn't stretched too much by Manuel Pellegrini's men.

Mathieu Debuchy - 6/10

Perhaps the Arsenal defender who struggled most at Wembley, Debuchy was often beaten down the right-hand side. Should settle after a few more games for the north London side, however.

Mikel Arteta - 7/10

Arsenal's new captain, Arteta produced one of his better performances of recent times and kept the Gunners' midfield running througout.

Jack Wilshere - 7.5/10

A good performance from the young midfielder considering the pressure on him lately. Wilshere was involved in the first goal and provided a good balance for Arsenal through the middle.

Aaron Ramsey - 8/10

The Welshman got on the scoresheet for Wenger's side and was instrumental from midfield yet again. Once more, fans at the Emirates may worry for Ramsey's fitness as he is used so much. So far, so good, however.

Santi Cazorla - 8/10

One of the Spaniard's best displays in recent times, Cazorla may have hit form at just the right time heading into the new season. The 29-year-old opened the scoring with a fine finish and constantly got forward for the Gunners. Was replaced by Tomas Rosicky with 20 minutes left.

Alexis Sanchez - 7.5/10

The Chilean still hasn't hit top gear yet - which is a promising fact for Arsenal fans. Sanchez ran at City defenders constantly and linked up well with his team-mates. The only difference, once the season starts, will be that the former Barcelona man will regain his full fitness and finish off moves with goals.

Yaya Sanogo - 7/10

Was involved in Ramsey's goal and did well in the first half, though this was not quite his four-goal haul against Benfica.

Nacho Monreal - 6/10

Came on at half-time and played at centre-back. May have to fill in there more unless Wenger can replace Thomas Vermaelen.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - 6.5/10

Was also introduced at the break and produced a solid 45 minutes for the Gunners.

Olivier Giroud - 8/10

The Frenchman came on at half-time and looked a lot livelier than Sanogo, scoring Arsenal's third with a terrific strike from long range.

Mathieu Flamini, Tomas Rosicky and Joel Campbell enjoyed late cameos.
