It is hard to believe that Welsh star Aaron Ramsey has been at Arsenal for seven seasons. But the club's Community Shield win over Manchester City was the beginning of his seventh year at the club. And in what will be music to the ears of Arsenal fans, the midfielder believes the atmosphere within the dressing room is the best since he joined in 2008.
Ramsey has been through a lot during his time in North London, from horrific leg breaks to difficult form and trophy droughts, but things have finally seemed to come good for the 23-year-old and his club.
Last year he had his most productive campaign at the club, emerging as a genuine Premier League star despite missing much of the season, and firing 16 goals in his 35 games, four times as many as his previous best season.
It was enough to see Ramsey named one of the best young players in the division, and barring his injury, he would have surely been named in the team of the season.
Speaking to BT Sport after the 3-0 victory at Wembley, Ramsey, who scored his side's second goal, seemed delighted to be at the club.
“The atmosphere in the camp is the best since I’ve been at Arsenal,” Ramsey told BT pundits including Gunners hero Ian Wright.
“We really get on, we really want to work hard for each other, everybody’s in it together. The club is on the up now.
“Everybody’s excited. Everybody’s really excited to see Sanchez play and hopefully he’ll have a really good season in the Premier League.
“After we won the FA Cup, this club is on the up. Hopefully now we can continue the success and go on to be very successful in the coming years.”
Where such strong team spirit takes the club this season will be part of the fun for Gunners supporters everywhere.
