Arsenal will be looking to begin the new season the same way they ended the last campaign: by winning a trophy.
Later on today, the Gunners will take on Premier League rivals Manchester City in the FA Community Shield at London’s Wembley Stadium.
The North London club’s manager, Arsene Wenger, is expected to play star summer signing Alexis Sanchez, whose arrival from Barcelona has given the fans renewed hope of their first Premier League triumph since 2004.
However, Manchester United legend Phil Neville believes that it will be Manuel Pellegrini’s City who will emerge triumphant in today’s match, while also predicting Rory McIlroy to win the US PGA Championship.
Last season’s Premier League winners City have not been as active in the summer transfer window as some of their rivals such as Chelsea and Arsenal.
So far the Manchester outfit have signed three major players: right-back Bacary Sagna on a free transfer, midfielder Fernando from Porto and goalkeeper Willy Caballero from Malaga.
However, the Citizens have one of the strongest squads in the English top flight and will certainly head into today’s match brimming with confidence.
