Liverpool will take on Borussia Dortmund in a pre-season friendly today, and one player who cannot wait to play in that clash is Emre Can.
The 20-year-old midfielder moved to the Reds from German club Bayer Leverkusen for a transfer fee of £9.75 million in July.
The German youngster has arrived in England with a strong reputation, having played a key role in Bayer finishing fourth in the Bundesliga last season and reaching the last 16 of the Champions League (click here to read more).
The former Bayern Munich youngster is in line to make his home debut for his new club Liverpool, and he is relishing the prospect of playing in front of the Kop.
‘I am really hoping that I can get on the pitch and make my first appearance at Anfield on Sunday’, Liverpool’s official website quotes him as saying. ‘I am really looking forward to that’.
‘I am convinced that Dortmund have strong individuals and strong players; they definitely work well together as a team’, he added.
Dortmund finished second in the Bundesliga last season and have a number of top-class players in their squad, including Marco Reus, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer despite still recovering from an injury.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have been one of the most entertaining teams to Europe in the past four or so years, having won the German league title twice during that period and reaching the final of the Champions League once.
However, the match later today will only be a friendly and it would be wrong to read too much into the final outcome.
