Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey was the star of the show in the FA Cup final in May, and he was once again pulling the strings in the FA Community Shield against Manchester City on Sunday.
The Wales international had arguably his best season for the Gunners in 2013-14 campaign despite his injury problems, and he looks set to replicate it this term.
The 23-year-old gave everyone a snapshot of what’s to come from him with his all-round display against Premier League champions City at London’s Wembley Stadium.
Ramsey was involved in the Gunners’ opening goal of the match scored by Spain international Santi Cazorla after 21 minutes and himself netted his side’s second three minutes before the half-time interval from close range.
Although Cazorla also gave an accomplished display in midfield and young French striker Yaya Sanogo looked good, former Cardiff City star Ramsey was perhaps the best Arsenal player on the pitch.
However, it was Olivier Giroud who was awarded the ‘Man of the Match’. The former Montpellier star came on at the half-time interval and scored the best goal of the contest on 62 minutes.
Many Arsenal fans were not pleased with the decision and hailed Ramsey as the star of the show on social networking site Twitter. Here is a selection of their tweets:
