It was a victory well earned in Pearce's first game in charge at the City Ground, especially after Karl Darlow (who started in goal) and Jamaal Lascelles were announced as Newcastle United players earlier in the day.
The duo have joined the Mapgies on long-term deals but were loaned back to Forest for the current season.
Pearce previously told reporters he was unhappy that bids had been accepted for the pair, although he insisted there were no fallings out between the club's owners and him.
You could have forgiven Nottingham Forest players for being distracted by the talk, however, especially with so many new faces in the starting line-up.
One thing working in their favour, though, was the fact that they were playing a Blackpool side with just four substitutes in their line-up...
Jose Riga's side had failed to register some of their new signings in time for the new league season and therefore had to travel to Nottingham with just 15 players in their matchday squad.
Pearce's side took full advantage and goals from Michail Antonio and Burke - who scored from 25 yards - sealed an opening-day victory for Forest. The performance of the club's goalscorers very much impressed their supporters on Twitter...
Hunt is quality, Mancienne is a different class. Burke sublime, Reid back to his best. Dangerous front two and Chris Cohen is back. #nffc— Jonno Reilly (@Jonno_Reiily) August 9, 2014
Top drawer goal with his left foot cutting in by Chris Burke. Seen him do it time & time again - against us! #nffc— Matt Rankin (@mattrankin180) August 9, 2014
That's why we signed Chris Burke! Come on! #nffc— Cameron Clark (@Camclarky) August 9, 2014
Were Antonio & Burke good buys for Nottingham Forest?
