Pepe Reina seemed close to agreeing a permanent move to Napoli earlier in the summer and he has paid tribute to the club and its fans.
The Spanish international arrived on a season long loan for the 2013-14 campaign after becoming surplus to requirements at Liverpool.
Reina impressed coach Rafa Benitez, fans and teammates alike as he helped Napoli finish third in Serie A and lift the Coppa Italia.
Napoli attempted to sign Reina permanently once his loan ended, but wages seemed to be an insurmountable obstacle to an agreement and he has now signed for Bayern Munich.
But Reina was keen to state just how much he enjoyed his time in Naples.
"Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the Napoli fans for your resolve, for the affection and love that you showed me.
"It was a marvellous year. Forza Napoli always!"
Reina has signed a three-year deal with Bayern Munich after the Germans agreed a deal worth around £2 million with Liverpool.
Should Liverpool have loaned Reina instead of selling him?
