Reds fans were far from complimentary in their assessment of Villa's new left-back.
Every once in a while, Liverpool sign a player that goes down in the club's folklore forever - for the wrong reasons.
David Ngog and Andriy Voronin are two such 'legends,' with the unforgettable Djimi Traore also of the same mould.
And, not unlike Traore in terms of playing style, last season saw Aly Cissokho brought to Anfield on a season-long loan. Suffice to say, he'll be remembered by the Kop... but not for any particular achievements.
By the end of his debut (and only) campaign at Liverpool, the 26-year-old had lost his place in the side to Jon Flanagan (previously a right-back) and left his mark as a Frenchman who simply could not cross the ball for love nor money.
Paul Lambert will thus be hoping the Reds' loss can be Villa's gain. But that's not quite how Liverpool fans see it.
Indeed, supporters of the Anfield club have been far from complimentary in their assessment of the 26-year-old full-back, questioning why Villa have decided to sign the Frenchman.
See just what Liverpool fans had to say below. If you are an admirer of Cissokho's, however, look away now!
Aston Villa have signed Cissokho on loan. I now make them favourites to be relegated.— tommmrp (@tommmrp) August 8, 2014
"@itvfootball: Aston Villa have announced the signing of Liverpool legend Aly Cissokho" - not every LFC player is a legend.— Phil Schaub (@phil_schaub) August 9, 2014
Aly Cissokho to Villa, what are they thinking?!! He couldn't pass wind, or cross his legs. #notafootballer— Jason Rawlings (@cymru_lfc) August 9, 2014
Aw, Aly Cissokho back in the prem. Similar to Djimi Traore - awful, hilarious, loveable. Aston Villa really are doing their best to go down.— Michael Moulding (@MichaeIMoulding) August 9, 2014
