All the morning news, views and transfer rumours from White Hart Lane...
The North London club have added Ben Davies, Michel Vorm and Eric Dier to an already talented squad that failed to finish in the top four of the Premier League last season.
‘I am very happy with the squad but you always want to improve’, London24.com quotes the Argentine as saying.
One of the players who underachieved last season for Tottenham was Erik Lamela, who joined the Premier League club from AS Roma for £30 million last summer.
There were suggestions earlier this summer that the Argentina international could be sold, but all those rumours have now died down with the 22-year-old enjoying himself in pre-season.
Pochettino has now backed his compatriot to show his quality in the English top flight.
‘We know Erik Lamela from Argentina and Italy’, Sky Sports quotes him as saying. ‘But he is still young and the Premier League is the most difficult league to play.
‘The style, the language, and to adapt, but now after one year in Tottenham we think and we believe that Erik is ready to show his quality’.
Meanwhile, Tottenham midfielder Lewis Holtby is relishing the prospect of taking on his former club Schalke in a pre-season friendly at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
The 23-year-old Germany international moved to Spurs from the Bundesliga outfit in January 2013, but so far he has failed to make a huge impact in the Premier League.
‘It’s always a brilliant occasion when you play at home for the first time after the summer’, he told Spurs’ official website. ‘Obviously we’re playing against my old team, so it’s a great thing for me personally and I hope we can show something on the pitch and give something back to the fans’.
