Tottenham Hotspur have been drawn against AEL Limassol in the Europa League playoff round.
The first leg of the clash will be held at the Cypriot club’s home ground, the Tsirion Stadium, on August 21. A week later, Spurs will be the hosts for the second leg at White Hart Lane.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side will head into the tie as favourites and will be expected to progress to the group stage with ease. The North London club have a very strong squad and, under their Argentine manager, the players have looked reinvigorated and look set to fight for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
Tottenham will also be keen on winning the Europa League as doing so will allow them a chance to feature in the 2015-16 Champions League campaign. It will be a real incentive for Spurs, who will find it tough to finish in the top four of the English top flight this season.
Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool will all be favourites ahead of Tottenham for a top-four finish. It will not be easy for Spurs to go all the way in the Europa League either, and, first and foremost, they need to overcome Limassol.
Currently managed by Ivaylo Petev, the six-time Cypriot champions finished second in the league last season and will be determined to cause an upset against their more illustrious English rivals.
Tottenham fans are of the opinion that Pochettino and his players will easily see off their opponents and have already started thinking of winning the Europa League.

Why not make winning the Europa League this season our priority and qualify for the CL that way? #thfc— Sean Hunt (@Tottingham_Sean) August 8, 2014
