After Arsenal were drawn to face Turkish giants Besiktas in the Champions League play-offs, we look at three players that could do damage to the Londoner's target of qualifying for the group stages for the 17th year in a row.
The Super Lig side, managed by former Croatia boss and West Ham star Slaven Bilic, finished third in the league last season, 12 points behind champions Fenerbahce and 3 behind second placed Galatasaray.
Though there were certainly harder teams for the Gunners to have drawn in the play-offs, a trip to Turkey is never an easy away game, and Arsene Wenger will have to have his team focused to avoid taking the fixtures lightly. The first games take place on the 19th/20th of August with the return leg a week later.
He will take heart from the fact his side hammered Fenerbahce 5-0 on aggregate last season, ahead of the Istanbul side then going on to dominate their domestic division.
Below are three of the Besiktas stars that could trouble the Premier League side, with one very familiar face:
Demba Ba (Striker): The former Chelsea striker only moved to Turkey this summer, but costing Besiktas £8 million he is likely to be the club's star man and main goal threat against the Gunners. Had a stop-start two-year spell at Stamford Bridge but generally impressed during his 5 years in England. Ba scored some key goals as he came back into the Blues side at the end of last season, and nearly joined Arsenal on loan last January before Mourinho pulled the plug.
Jermaine Jones (Defensive midfield): Jones enjoyed a superb World Cup this summer, proving that despite being 32-years-old he, he has plenty to offer. Has been linked with a move back to the MLS over the last month or so, but looks set to still be at the club come the games with Arsenal, where his tough tacking and relentless harrying will look to unsettle the Gunners midfield. Spent much of his career in Germany, aside from a short loan spell with Blackburn, and featured against Arsenal while at Schalke in the last couple of years.
Olcay Sahan (Left wing): Another player to have arrived at Besiktas from Germany, Sahan has really impressed since arriving in 2012, with 19 goals in 68 league games, on the way to representing the Turkish national team. The quick and skilful 27-year-old shares German as well as Turkish links, like Arsenal star Mesut Ozil, and is also a creative force for both club and country, being one of the top goal assisters in the Super Lig last season. Will be a big test for one of Arsenal's two new right backs if he was to start wide left.
Will Besiktas pose any threat to Arsenal in the play-offs?
