The Welshman seems to have bulked up before the beginning of the new season with Real Madrid.
Once a very lean, skinny figure, new photos of Gareth Bale certainly show he’s been packing on the muscle in the gym this summer.
Back in 2006 when he made his Wales debut, it must have been difficult for kit-men to find a shirt small enough to fit him, but now as he trains with Real Madrid ahead of the Super Cup in his hometown Cardiff next week, Bale has gained plenty of strength in his upper body.
With no World Cup to contend with this summer, Bale has clearly been working the weights to earn some very bulky, yet still very toned arms and shoulders, that could help him on the field.
As long as the 25-year-old hasn’t lost any pace due to the extra muscle, then he is set to be more dangerous than ever before. Should he maintain his blistering speed, and have the strength to match, he could be near unstoppable.
Bale scored 24 goals in all competitions in his opening season at Real Madrid, including two match-winning goals in cup finals – the Copa del Rey and the elusive Champions League.
Here is a collection of images at club and international level that demonstrate Bale’s remarkable change in figure since he burst onto the scene as a teenager.
Will Bale's newly gained strength improve his ability to beat a defender?
