Romelu Lukaku, a £28 million recruit from Chelsea, will complete his Everton return this weekend as he is expected to feature prominently against SC Paderborn 07 in the club's fifth and final pre-season friendly ahead of the Premier League campaign next weekend.
When leaving for Germany, the Belgium international - who scored 15 goals and set up six last year - uploaded a photograph to his Instagram account depicting him taking a selfie with team-mates Tim Howard and Kevin Mirallas.
Everton are due to face Bundesliga new-boys Paderborn on Saturday, August 9 at the Benteler Arena.
Both Lukaku and Mirallas returned to training yesterday, Thursday, as confirmed by Roberto Martinez earlier in the week. The Spanish manager also stated that both players were likely to get a run-out in the friendly in order to enhance their readiness for their debut competitive test of the new campaign.
On completing the deal for Lukaku, Martinez said he was "always the priority".
He said: "There are another couple of positions we need to strengthen and getting Rom makes it a bit clearer. It allows everyone else in the squad to be excited and embrace the competition.
“Every Evertonian had a real hope we could bring someone like him in on a permanent basis. The board, and especially the chairman have been magnificent in making this a reality. It’s a big moment in Everton’s history and it will allow us to push our intentions even further going into the new season."
Everton travel to Leicester City on Saturday, August 16.
