Pepe Reina is now at Bayern Munich after being unveiled by the club.
It is a move that has caused some division among Liverpool fans but Pepe Reina is now officially a Bayern Munich player.
The Spanish international has been on the outskirts of the Liverpool first-team since Belgian stopper Simon Mignolet arrived at the club.
Now Bayern Munich have officially unveiled the player, after he completed a medical this morning, and has now agreed a three-year deal.
Reina spent last season at Italian side Napoli. However, the Partenopei want to give their young Brazilian Rafael a chance between the sticks and were also not keen on Reina's wage demands, so did not pursue a permanent deal for the player.
Many Liverpool fans are not keen on his departure - with some suggesting that Reina is in fact still better than the uncertain Mignolet.
But Reina, who knows Bayern boss Pep Guardiola from his Barcelona days, will now play second fiddle to Manuel Neuer at the Allianz Arena, most likely featuring in DfB Pokal games and fixtures against teams lower down the Bundesliga - when Neuer can put his feet up.
Speaking of the move Reina said:
"Very happy. It is a great moment for my life and also for my families. It is a great step forward, and I am very happy to join one of the biggest clubs in the world. I am looking forward to starting as soon as possible and start working... Win [expectation for next season] and work as hard as I can, push Manuel [Neuer] as hard as I can and give my help to the team whenever they need it."
Of course he will struggle to usurp Neuer between the sticks. But he obviously deduced he had more chance of winning silverware with Bayern then he did at Liverpool. Or he might have just wanted to feel needed, a feeling he surely no longer had with Liverpool.
