Manchester United and Tottenham target to be offered new deal at current club – report

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur could miss out on signing Memphis Depay, as PSV will offer him a new big-money contract.

Memphis Depay is reportedly set to be offered a new contract at PSV Eindhoven, amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

The Dutchman has seen his future cast into doubt in recent times after the Premier League duo both have reportedly had Depay on their summer wishlists.

PSV are now intending to offer the 20-year-old a contract that will make him one of the top earners at the club, as they look to secure his future.

Phillip Cocu, the PSV manager, had already warned his star prospect that a move away from the Eredivisie could be a bad choice, and it seems that he is going to tempt him to stay by increasing his wage-packet.

It was thought that the lure of Premier League football and the riches that were on offer in England were two of the major reasons that Depay was keen on a move away, but the offer of a new deal would, at least, eradicate the latter of those two attractions.

The Dutch international has shot to fame after a superb showing in Holland last season and an impressive World Cup campaign with the national side.

During the international tournament, he played four times in the Netherlands' run to claiming third place and scored two goals.

As a result, he was linked with Manchester United following Louis van Gaal’s appointment as manager, but Spurs were thought to have jumped to the head of the queue for his signature.

However, this news has thrown his departure to either of the pair into doubt, and it appears that he could be set to stay in his homeland for the foreseeable future.
