Liverpool have supposedly received a boost in their quest to sign Ezequiel Lavezzi this summer, as Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly ready to sell him in order to fund a move for Angel di Maria.

PSG president Nasser-Al Khelaifi ruled out a move for the Real Madrid star on Thursday, admitting that the 26-year-old is ‘too expensive’ for them (click here to read more).

However, the Daily Express has now quoted reports in Spain as stating that PSG are ready to sell Lavezzi, who joined the French club from Napoli in the summer of 2012 for a reported transfer fee of €30 million, in order to raise the funds required to recruit the Argentina star’s international teammate this summer.

The Reds have been linked with a move for attacker Lavezzi, who is one of the best players in the world and will be a great addition to manager Brendan Rodgers’s team.

Liverpool are also in the transfer market for a striker, having sold Luis Suarez to Barcelona earlier this summer.

Former Ipswich Town and Charlton Athletic midfielder Matt Holland has backed the Reds’ England international Daniel Sturridge to step up his game next season.

‘I think the body language between the two when they played together wasn’t brilliant at times, and I think both of them when they were playing up front on their own perhaps showed better form’, the Daily Star quotes the 40-year-old as saying.

‘So maybe we’ll see even more from Sturridge, who I thought had an excellent season last year. But trying to replace Suarez is a massive job’.

Pepe Reina has also left Liverpool, the Spain international goalkeeper joining Bayern Munich on a three-year deal for a transfer fee reported to be £3 million.

The former Barcelona and Villarreal custodian, who completed his switch to the Bundesliga champions on Friday, is expected to play second fiddle to Germany international Manuel Neuer at the Allianz Arena.

One player who is staying at Anfield for one more season at least is Jose Enrique. The Spanish left-back missed most of last season due to a knee injury, but he is now fit and ready to get back into action for the Premier League giants.

‘I'm still getting my fitness back but I feel really good and confident that I can play soon’, PA Sport quotes the 28-year-old former Villarreal and Newcastle United star as saying.

‘It's little by little, and not just me, everyone is getting their fitness. If the manager wants me to play in the first game of the season (against Southampton), I am ready of course’.
