Former Manchester United and Tottenham star poses with WWE boss Vince McMahon

Dimitar Berbatov

Ex-Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur striker Dimitar Berbatov took time out from pre-season training with AS Monaco to meet WWE owner Vince McMahon.

Berbatov joined Monaco from Fulham in January, and as he prepared for the new Ligue 1 season with his teammates, the Bulgarian forward happened to bump into the head-honcho of World Wrestling Entertainment, McMahon.
Posting on his official Facebook page, Berbatov wrote: "Like a big fan of WWE, the random meeting with the owner of WWE, Vince McMahon, was a great surprise..:)))"
The picture earned over nine thousand 'likes' and was shared over 300 times by users of the social networking site.
McMahon, who was one of the masterminds behind the commercial success of the likes of Hulk Hogan, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and The Rock, bought WWE off his father Vince McMahon Snr before overseeing its global expansion which really took flight during the 'Attitude Era' of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Berbatov, who made his name in the Premier League with Spurs, moved to United in 2008 for a club-record £31 million after two seasons at White Hart Lane, which included a triumph in the League Cup.
The elegant striker won two Premier Leagues during his time at Old Trafford before moving to Fulham in 2012.
The meeting is not the first time football has collided with WWE of course. Back in 2007, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was captured on camera at a Monday Night Raw event, which was shown on Sky Sports, while former Wimbledon captain Vinnie Jones was a part of the company's Capital Carnage show back in 1999.
