Everton's poor pre-season form continued last night as they were well beaten by Celta Vigo at Tranmere Rovers' Prenton Park ground.
The Toffees have now drawn with Tranmere and Porto and lost to Leicester City and Celta in a pre-season campaign which has dented the confidence of the odd Evertonian.
Everton fielded a strong team last night - but the performance of many players left plenty to be desired. John Stones in particular had a night to forget.
But the person who scored the three goals for Celta in their 3-1 triumph is also one of interest - as it was Spanish forward Nolito who did the damage.
Two years ago he was heavily linked with a £15 million swap from Benfica to Liverpool after an impressive stint in Portugal. Brendan Rodgers was said to be a huge fan of the former Barcelona youngster after he scored an impressive 15 goals in 48 games at the start of his Benfica career.
Unfortunately for Nolito he lost his place at Benfica to Nico Gaitan and last summer he joined his former Barca B coach Luis Enrique at Celta - where he rebuilt his reputation as a devastating goal-scoring wide man.
Now it is in fact Everton being linked with his services, as Roberto Martinez admits the club needs to sign a winger.
Based on last night's evidence they would not go wrong with Nolito.
