Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has been linked with Real Madrid following the return of Thibaut Courtois to Stamford Bridge.
The report in the Times also suggests that Cech will be used as leeway to bring in Raphael Varane from the Spanish giants, as Chelsea pursue depth at centre-half.
Navas is expected to play La Liga matches, with maybe Casillas appearing in European and Cup matches, and Lopez if he stays filling in anywhere else. Cech would be surplus to requirements at the Bernabéu, and a move would not happen.
A switch for Cech to Monaco or Paris Saint-Germain is a little more likely, with it seeming more and more like Courtois will be starting the opening Premier League game against Burnley in ten days’ time.
Defender Raphael Varane is also unlikely to be budged from the European Champions, with options short at centre-half. Sergio Ramos and Pepe will likely resume their partnership for the majority of the coming season, but Varane will need to be around as back-up.
The 21-year-old is also one of the hottest young prospects in world football, and has been tipped to be one of the best defenders around in years to come. Madrid would not risk losing a player that will surely form part of their spine for the next generation.
The Cech/Varane merry go-round should be written off immediately, it simply won’t happen.
