The top five players linked with signing for Arsenal this week - Reus, Agger and more

Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City and Shakhtar Donetsk stars all feature.

Arsenal are in great shape heading into the new Premier League season with Arsene Wenger creating a squad, which is more than capable of winning the Premier League title.

The Gunners continue to be linked with some of the best players from the division and other leagues across Europe and they have the means to go after deals before the start of the season if Wenger feels they are necessary.

We’ve taken a look at five of the best players to be linked with signing for the club this past week.

Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund)

Arsenal are one of several clubs to have been linked with a move for the BVB star after news broke earlier this week that his buy-out clause is lower than previously suggested. However, Arsenal already have several world class central midfield options.

Sami Khedira (Real Madrid)

This is a transfer saga which has been going on for weeks and some sections of the Spanish press claim Arsenal have done a deal with Real Madrid for the German. However, he’s been pictured back in first team training with Carlo Ancelotti’s side ahead of the new season.

Daniel Agger (Liverpool)

Agger represents an extremely experienced Premier League defender who would be a superb replacement for Thomas Vermaelen. Agger’s position in the Liverpool first team has been threatened following the arrival of Croatian defender Dejan Lovren from Southampton.

Matija Nastasic (Manchester City)

Another very talented defender linked with the club but less experienced than Agger. The Metro claims that the player has been put on the transfer list by Manchester City which could be another sign of Eliaquim Mangala’s imminent arrival at the North West club.

Douglas Costa (Shakhtar Donetsk)

The 23-year-old Brazilian has been linked with a season long loan move to Arsenal. Arsene Wenger appears to be worried about having cover for Santi Cazorla in the number ten role with Mesut Ozil still to return to training with Arsenal following the World Cup.
