The top five players linked with signing for Arsenal this week: Di Maria, Eto'o and more

Real Madrid, Chelsea, Barcelona, Queens Park Rangers and Norwich City stars all feature.

Arsene Wenger will be under a lot of pressure when the transfer market officially opens after the World Cup.

The Frenchman needs to bring in important players to key areas of his team as he looks to get Arsenal back to the top of the Premier League, while challenging well in Europe.

We’ve taken a look at five of the best players linked with Arsenal moves this past week.

Angel Di Maria (Real Madrid)

Di Maria is someone who could come into the left hand side of Arsenal’s midfield. He’d provide Wenger with the luxury of being able to play Lukas Podolski as a striker, creating extra back up in attack. He can also play down the right, which would free up Theo Walcott.

Samuel Eto’o (Chelsea)

Eto’o won’t be staying on at Chelsea, which means he’ll become a free agent and all Arsenal will have to spend to get him, is the cost of a large personal package. Eto’o proved with the Blues last season that given the game time, he can still be a dangerous striker in any attack.

Pedro (Barcelona)

Pedro is the sort of attacking player ideally suited to the way Arsenal like to play. He’s been brought up around an attacking pass and possession based game at Barca. He can also play down either side of the attack as well as press further forward in a false number nine type role.

Loic Remy (Queens Park Rangers)

The QPR forward would be a good back up option to Olivier Giroud and someone who won’t eat away at Wenger’s summer budget. With the club in contract talks with Giroud, Wenger seems determined to sign a good back up to his main striker who could also replace him with some consistent form.

John Ruddy (Norwich City)

Not the most exciting signing Arsenal could make this summer but a sensible one nevertheless. At £6 million, Arsenal would be getting an England international with a decent chunk of Premier League experience and someone who could seriously challenge Wojciech Szczesny.
