Stan Collymore recommends Sami Khedira: Like two signings in one!

talkSPORT pundit and Bleacher Report columnist Stan Collymore believes Real Madrid athlete Sami Khedira would be an excellent acquisition for Arsenal.

Even though Arsene Wenger has seemingly moved on from Sami Khedira as the media now link the Arsenal manager with a swoop for Sporting Lisbon wonderkid William Carvalho, Bleacher Report columnist Stan Collymore views the German as an "excellent acquisition" for the Gunners as he is effectively "two players in one."

Collymore recently sent out a Tweet to his 644,000 followers on social media that Khedira's transfer away from Real Madrid and to Arsenal was "100% on" regardless of alternative reports that speculate Carvalho was now the primary target, or whether Calum Chambers would instead be entrusted in the defensive midfield role against Manchester City at the weekend and, if he excels, then could win the position permanently.

Currently, Wenger has completed a number of extraordinary deals, including the marquee arrival of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona. Commenting, Collymore said: "It was fantastic for them to get Alexis Sanchez into the club and they've got players like Theo Walcott coming back from injury and youngsters like Jack Wilshere - it's a big season for him.

"The big question for Arsenal last season was what they were lacking at the back, especially with no defensive midfielder.

"They lacked somebody who could break up opposition attack and somebody who was clever with his positioning. Khedira is two players in one really as he not only does this, but also gets forward himself.

"For me, Khedira would be an excellent acquisition."

Real Madrid reportedly want Khedira to remain at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu but are loathe to cave in to his exorbitant wage demands - something Wenger also allegedly baulked at.

He is apparently available for purchase at £24 million.
