Reaction: Arsenal or Liverpool best club for £60m Edinson Cavani?

Are Arsenal or Liverpool the best fit for Edinson Cavani?

Arsenal and Liverpool have both been linked with mega-moves for Edinson Cavani of PSG.

The Liverpool Echo quoted the striker's agent Claudi Anelluci as stating: "“There has been much interest in the player during the last six months.

"I can confirm that Cavani heard proposals from Liverpool and Arsenal. Already said he would love to play in England, but has not yet made a final decision.

“He is not interested in money and fame; he just wants to be happy playing football."

Cavani has been playing out on the right for PSG to accommodate Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and while he still managed to net 16 goals in 25 starts, but endured a dismal World Cup.

So which Premier League side out of Arsenal and Liverpool, would be the best fit for Cavani?

For: Cavani would sign in the knowledge that linking up with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil would see him become one of Europe's most feared strike forces. Arsenal are renowned for playing attacking football, and he is a certain upgrade on Olivier Giroud. With Theo Walcott a fixture on the right, it is unlikely Arsene Wenger would want to play him out of position.

Against: Arsenal's wage structure could block any move for the Uruguayan. Having reportedly baulked at Sami Khedira's £150,000 a week demands, Cavani would have to take a substantial drop on his £200,000 per week he earns at PSG to join the Gunners.

For: Liverpool will come highly recommended to Cavani by close friend and international teammate Luis Suarez. Fans of the Reds are desperate for a top class striker, and the Uruguayan would certainly answer questions in that department. Brendan Rodgers will hope his brand of attacking football will be every bit as convincing as Arsene Wenger's, and the Suarez factor could tip it.

Against: Cavani may actually be put off by trying to follow in the footsteps of former Player of the Year Luis Suarez, and prefer to sign for a club where he can write his own chapter. He may also view Sterling and Markovic as second best to Ozil and Sanchez. Once again, his wages could hamper any deal.
