Memphis Depay has sought advice from his compatriot, Robin van Persie, about a move to England, with Tottenham Hotspur hoping to sign the young winger.
Depay has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane for much of the summer so far and it appears that Spurs are edging closer to completing a deal for the 20-year-old.
However, Depay is keen not to rush into a move and has opted to discuss the deal with Van Persie before making any decision on his future.
The Manchester United forward moved to England at a young-age and has enjoyed a stellar career in the Premier League since, but Depay wants to know if the 31-year-old would encourage others to follow suit.
It is thought that the Dutch international, who was excellent in their World Cup campaign, could be available for around £15 million with some reports even suggesting that a bid has been accepted from Spurs already.
Depay has been urged by his current manager, Phillip Cocu, to stay at PSV, but it is thought that the potential pay-rise which he will land if he is to join Spurs could be enough to lure him away.
Depay is considered one of the brightest Dutch youngsters coming through and his transfer to Spurs would be a signal of their intentions this season.
Pochettino has been quiet since his arrival at White Hart Lane, but there is a cautious optimism from Tottenham fans that he could impress this season and the signing of Depay would certainly fit in with his plans.
The versatile midfielder is able to play on either side and his all-action approach is likely to fit in well with Pochettino’s preferred style.
The Argentine demands a high-pressing game and Depay certainly has the energy and high-octane approach that would be required to do well in his system.
It remains to be seen whether Van Persie would encourage his friend to join at Premier League rival, especially as Depay was linked with a move to United previously in the summer, but he has spoken positively about moving to England early in his career whenever asked about it before and it would be a surprise if he did advise the PSV star to stay in the Eredivisie.
If Depay does join he will be the second Dutch player to arrive at White Hart Lane this summer, after Michel Vorm’s transfer from Swansea was completed last month.
What do you think, will Depay join Spurs?
