Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Barcelona and Sevilla stars all feature.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers deserves a lot of praise for drastically improving his team’s squad depth over the course of the summer.
We’ve taken a look at the players who continue to be linked with moves to Anfield.
Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund)
Liverpool are one of the sides linked with a potential move for Marco Reus after it emerged his buy-out clause is far lower than previously reported. He would be a world class addition to the Liverpool midfield and the sort of player who can fill Steven Gerrard’s boots once the Kop legend retires.
Xherdan Shaqiri (Bayern Munich)
Recent reports suggest Bayern Munich have rejected bids for the Swiss winger. Liverpool have been linked with him for most of the summer and those links don’t appear to have vanished following the £20 million arrival of Lazar Markovic from Benfica.
Mauro Icardi (Inter Milan)
Another possible attacking addition up front could be Inter’s Icardi. Reports suggest a possible £16 million fee, which Liverpool could afford and he’d certainly add some firepower alongside Daniel Sturridge and new summer signing Rickie Lambert, who looked a little off the pace in pre-season.
Ibrahim Afellay (Barcelona)
Reports from Spain this week have suggested that Afellay is surplus to requirements under Luis Enrique at the Nou Camp. Besiktas seem the favourites at the moment to sign the Dutchman but there have been suggestions in the press that the Reds could try and hijack the move.
Alberto Moreno (Sevilla)
Moreno has been linked with a move to Liverpool for most of the summer. Sevilla have so far played hard ball over the price, seemingly aware that the club has money to spend following the deal which took striker Luis Suarez to Barcelona. The Mirror suggests a deal is close.
