The Inter Milan legend is available on a free after leaving the San Siro this summer.
Leicester City are reportedly set to offer former Inter Milan star Esteban Cambiasso a bumper £5 million deal in order to bring him to the King Power Stadium, helping the Argentinian turn down previous interest from the likes of Valencia, West Ham and Spurs.
The Argentinian will be 34 later this month, but is a vastly experienced individual who has barely missed a game during his recently ended ten-year stint in Serie A - he has made 30 or more league appearances in 9 out of his ten seasons at Inter.
Anyone with that kind of history will be a bonus for a whole of host of Premier League sides, and the news that Leicester are looking to pull off a coup by signing the player will surely encourage others to act on any interest they may or may not have.
With central midfield additions said to be something Mauricio Pochettino is thinking about, and a mooted move for Morgan Schneiderlin looking more and more unlikely, the former Espanyol boss could return to Cambiasso as an experienced option with plenty of title wins to help instil a winning mentality in his Tottenham squad.
But with Leicester offering big money, the ex Real Madrid player may well end up as the old head to help stabilise the Foxes in a first Premier League campaign in several years.
The Mirror revealed that West Ham invited the former Argentinian international to train to see if he is worth a deal, while Leicester are eager to snap up such a footballing legend for no transfer fee, without subjecting him to what is essentially a trial.
It is likely the next few days will indicate Cambiasso's next destination - but it is worth keeping in mind one thing, the midfielder has won titles in Argentina, Spain and Italy, somewhat of a good omen for any interested parties.
