Liverpool transfer news, Agger nears exit after plea, hopes of landing Moreno before opener

A selection of the latest transfer stories involving Liverpool Football Club this Thursday morning.

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger appears to be nearing the Anfield exit door with the Daily Mirror reporting that he has begged manager Brendan Rodgers for a move away from the club.

Agger's first team team chances appear to be more limited than ever going into the new season. He faced stiff competition from Mamadou Sakho last term, whilst the signing of Dejan Lovren from Southampton may have put the Dane further down the pecking order.

The Reds vice-captain was given permission to leave the tour of the United States after breaking down in tears. Barcelona are reportedly favourites to sign Agger, though former club Brondby have made their interest well-known.

Sevilla's Alberto Moreno looks like he will be the next player to arrive at Anfield according to the Liverpool Echo after they made their seventh summer signing in Javier Manquillo yesterday.

Liverpool are looking to finalise the move for Moreno before the Premier League season gets underway next weekend, though the Sevilla club president has said he will play in the Super Cup for the side.

Their latest recruit, Manquillo,  has said he is heading to Merseyside to earn his place in the side, which will mean competing with Glen Johnson, Jon Flanagan and Martin Kelly for the right-back role.

The Spaniard said: “I’m coming here to earn my place in the side. And above all, like any footballer to keep on improving as much as I can in training and compete to the very best of my ability."

Young midfielder Conor Coady sealed a permanent move to Championship side Huddersfield Town yesterday evening - in a deal reported to be worth around £500,000.
