As expected, Liverpool defender Rafael Paez will spend the 2014-15 campaign with Bologna and will try and impress in Italy's second tier.
Bologna were relegated from Serie A last season and are in the process of trying to rebuild the squad to compete for an immediate return to the top table.
The Emilia-Romagna outfit have been in talks with Liverpool over Spanish centre-back Paez, who can also be used at full-back, for around two weeks and have agreed a deal.
Paez, who turns 20 on Sunday, joined Liverpool's Academy side last summer after impressing on trial but he has further development to do if he is to feature in the first team.
Having grown up at Real Madrid, Paez has always been seen as a talent for the future and must now improve on several aspects of his game despite being lauded regularly for his positional sense.
Bologna released a statement today explaining that Paez was coming to the club on loan with the option to make the switch permanent next summer for a free believed to be around £3.5 million.
Does sending out players on loan make long-term sense?
