Woody Allen's new film shoot interrupted by 'man throwing furniture'

Man fights with security guards, asks 'weird questions' and throws furniture around Woody Allen film set before being arrested and taken to hospital

A man has been arrested and charged with assault after allegedly throwing furniture and fighting with security guards on the set of Woody Allen's new film in Providence, Rhode Island.

The man, identified to the Associated Press by local police as Mark Spiridakos, was tackled after running from the scene and taken to hospital with a head injury.

Security told local station WPRI-TV the man turned up on set and began asking "weird questions" about the untitled film's cast, which includes Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone and Parker Posey. After becoming involved in an altercation he is said to have thrown a chair.

Allen's film, the follow-up to current comedy Magic in the Moonlight, has been described as a "contemporary story" set in the world of academia. The veteran director has been filming in Providence, most recently near the famous Brown University, since last month.
