PHOTO: World Cup star Mauricio Isla officially unveiled as a QPR player

Queens Park Rangers have confirmed the signing of Mauricio Isla, who had previously been linked with a move to Arsenal and Newcastle United.

The Juventus man has received his work permit and will join the Rs on a season-long loan from the Serie A side.

Isla played all four of Chile's World Cup games this summer and has expressed his excitement at signing for the west London side.

QPR have surprised many with the capture, as several clubs were reported to be in the hunt for the 26-year-old's signature.

Speaking to the club's official website, Isla said: “I am very happy to be here – this is the start of an exciting new adventure for me.

“Everybody knows that the Premier League is the greatest league in the world and the QPR proposal is very interesting and one I am very excited about.

“I hope this coming season is going to be great for both the club and myself. I will give 100 per-cent in every game to help QPR in the Premier League.”

Meanwhile, Rs boss Harry Redknapp is understandably pleased to have landed another summer signing, with Jordon Mutch being confirmed as a QPR player yesterday.

“He’s a top player and we’re delighted to have him here," Redknapp said.

“He showed his quality in the World Cup for Chile and it’s a great loan signing for us.

“He’s a versatile player, he’s full of energy. I’m confident he’ll be a really big asset for us this season”
