Several reports have recently suggested that Real Madrid are interested in investing in Thibaut Courtois to become their long term number one.
The goalkeeper has returned to Chelsea following three seasons on loan with Atletico Madrid and is competing against Petr Cech for the number one slot at Stamford Bridge ahead of the Blues’ first Premier League game of the season against Burnley.
One of the things Courtois always claimed ahead of his return to Chelsea is that he wanted to play regularly and not just feature in a series of cup games or a bit part role.
The problem with Real Madrid’s interest is demonstrated in the picture above; there are already three top quality goalkeepers at the club, which leads to the question of why Courtois would consider going there?
Iker Casillas, Diego Lopez and Iker Casillas could all understandably be Real Madrid’s first choice goalkeeper next season, leaving Courtois confined to the very thing he’s trying to avoid.
