Old Firm latest: Forster linked with £8m move, McCoist plays down win

We bring you a round up of the latest news from Rangers and Celtic.

Forster considering Celtic exit

Several reports have linked Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster with a move to Premier League side Southampton.

The England international is thought to be considering his future based on Celtic’s struggles in the Champions League.

Reports suggest a potential bid of around the £8 million mark could be enough to tempt him down south from Scotland.

Delia hopes for Champions League turnaround

Celtic manager Ronny Delia is hoping his side can overturn a 4-1 first leg deficit against Legia Warsaw.

The Polish side strolled to a comfortable win in the first leg of the Champions League play-off, which leaves Celtic with everything to do in the second game.

“I haven't given up. It's possible. If we turn this around it will be a massive night. That is what we are wanting, dreaming of, but behind that it needs a good performance,” he said.

“Last week was a hard day but I have had many days like that in my career. That gets you reflecting and you have to use your experience to turn it around and bounce back.”

Rangers boss refuses to get carried away

Rangers manager Ally McCoist has played down the significance of his team’s Challenge Cup win against Hibernian.

Rangers secured a 2-1 win in the game last night to begin their new season in winning fashion, with the ultimate aim of getting back into the SPL.

“We can and will do better. There’s certainly bags of room for improvement,” said McCoist.

“We were the better side in the first-half but Hibernian came into it in the second. We were sloppy at the Hibs goal.”

“We could have won it with a chance right at the death through Kris Boyd but it needed extra-time and we kept going.”
