All the latest summer transfer news from League One...
The big news of the day in League One comes from London Road, as Peterborough United have sensationally lost top goalscorer Britt Assombalonga just days before the start of the season. The 33-goal hitman has joined Nottingham Forest for a whopping £5.5m, with Stuart Pearce forking out big money to snap up the goal machine.
The Posh bought Assombalonga from Watford just a year ago for £1.5m, but after his incredible goalscoring exploits, the huge fee is somewhat justified - even if it will be hard to convince Peterborough fans that the sale is a good idea.
Just days after MK Dons secured the loan signing of Arsenal striker, manager Karl Robinson has dipped into the transfer market once again. This time, the Dons have snapped up Aston Villa winger Samir Carruthers on a permanent deal after he spent time on loan at Stadium mk last season - despite him currently being sidelined with a thigh injury.
"I understand some fans might be thinking 'why have we signed a player who is injured? But we're building for the future," said Robinson. "He is part of the long-term strategy here and that's shown with his three-year deal. He's an exceptional talent and one day I believe he will be back showcasing his ability at the top."
Elsewhere, Notts County have snapped up former Sheffield United midfielder Elliott Whitehouse on a one-year deal following a successful trial period at Meadow Lane.
"He's done fantastically well since coming in on trial," said manager Shaun Derry. "His challenge now is to force his way into the side."
Finally, newly promoted Fleetwood Town have made a couple of big moves in the shape of former Blackpool stars Stephen Crainey and Keith Southern, and now Graham Alexander's side are looking to snap up Inverness striker Billy McKay. The 25-year-old has hit 49 goals in the last two seasons up in Scotland, and snapping him up would be a huge coup for the Cod Army.
