Manchester United have been linked with several players this summer, and one of them is Arda Turan.
The winger has been at Atletico Madrid since 2011 and has been a key figure in Los Rojiblancos’s resurgence in the last three or so years under coach Diego Simeone.
The Turkey international has helped the Spanish club win La Liga, the Europa League and the Copa del Rey, while also playing his part in their march to the final of the Champions League last season.
Turan is one of the in-form wingers in Europe at the moment and, given the Red Devils’ need for wide players, they were reported to be interested in the former Galatasaray star.
In fact, it was even reported that United were open to sending Japan international midfielder Shinji Kagawa to Atletico along with €20 million (£16m) to secure Turan’s signature.
The man of the moment has now spoken out amid all this speculation, his comments giving a clear indication of where he wants to play next season.
‘I'm working hard, I'm at the best club in Spain’, Goal.com quotes him as saying ahead of Atletico’s pre-season friendly against Galatasaray on Wednesday. ‘I am a key cog in Simeone's system’.
That should be it then: Turan is staying at Atletico. It has yet to be confirmed that United and Liverpool have any interest in the Turkish midfielder, but even if they do, then they should look at other players now.
