Luke Shaw, Wilfried Zaha, Juan Mata and David De Gea have given their reactions to Manchester United's 3-1 win against Liverpool in the ICC Cup final.
Manchester United’s first team stars are unsurprisingly delighted with the 3-1 victory over Liverpool in the final of the ICC Cup.
Goals from Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard were enough to cancel out a Steven Gerrard penalty as Louis van Gaal secured his first piece of silverware in charge of the club.
United winger Wilfried Zaha described the win as a great experience on Instagram while posting a picture of himself being addressed by the boss.
“Great experience and we've won too.. Looking forward to learning and progressing more this season.”
Goalkeeper David De Gea commented on the positive feeling which has been created by the win, while thanking United’s support base in the USA which came out in numbers for every match the side played.
Juan Mata, who bagged an important goal against Liverpool, described the pre-season adventure as a ‘great tour’ while echoing De Gea’s comments about United’s fan base in the USA.
Luke Shaw had a more daunting message for United’s main rivals, suggesting that this win was just the start of things to come under LvG, while praising the performance of his teammates.
This is just the start! Great game lads! http://t.co/DiGhfDwXuZ— Luke Shaw (@LukeShaw3) August 5, 2014
There’s plenty to be positive about this morning if you’re a United fan but the Premier League and domestic cup competitions are more significant pieces of silverware for the club to aim for.
