All the latest summer transfer news from Serie A...
Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado starred for the Serie A side last season, and did his reputation no harm with more superb performances at the World Cup for Colombia in Brazil this summer. Barcelona and Bayern Munich had both been linked with moves for the 26-year-old this summer, but Manchester United are the team believed to be leading the race for his signature.
According to Sky Italia, United have submitted a €40m bid for Cuadrado. That equates to £31.7m plus add-ons, but Fiorentina still want £39.6m for their star winger. Whether Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal goes to that amount remains to be seen, but it seems clear that the Dutchman is trying to sign a new winger this summer.
Elsewhere, Lazio snapped up reported Manchester United target Stefan de Vrij last week as the Rome club look to improve their defence. Another centre back is still on the agenda for manager Stefano Pioli, with Aston Villa's fellow Dutchman Ron Vlaar linked with the club as well.
However, with Villa seemingly unwilling to let Vlaar leave after he starred at the World Cup, leaving Lazio to look for other targets. Another Premier League centre back has been linked with a move to the Stadio Olimpico, with Tottenham's Younes Kaboul reportedly interesting the club as Spurs look to bring Mateo Musacchio in from Villarreal.
Finally, AC Milan's transfer business has already seen new manager Pippo Inzaghi sign Paris Saint-Germain duo Alex and Jeremy Menez, but with left back Kevin Constant on his way to Trabzonspor, the club are believed to be pursuing a move for Udinese's Colombian international Pablo Armero - but Udinese say no deal has been struck.
"At the moment there are no proper negotiations," said Udinese director of sport Cristiano Giaretta. "There is interest from Milan, as from other clubs. The player, who had a good World Cup, is appreciated by many sides, especially outside Italy."
