Liverpool are about to agree a loan deal to give defensive prospect Rafael Paez the chance to develop his skills at Serie B side Bologna.
Paez will turn 20 on August 10 and he joined Liverpool on a free transfer last September after he was released by Real Madrid's youth squad.
Having impressed while on trial, Paez secured a permanent move to Liverpool where he made 15 appearances in the club's Under-20 side last season.
The Spaniard has been praised for his composure and air of authority in the defence at a young age, but Liverpool seem to still feel he has some development to be done before he can be integrated into the senior squad.
The deal will reportedly take the form of a season long loan with the option for a permanent sale for a fixed fee of £2.4 million.
If Paez impresses, Liverpool could receive performance related payments in addition to a small fee for the loan deal.
Bologna were relegated from Serie A last season, so Paez will get a chance to make his mark as the Emilia-Romagna outfit look to bounce back from the second tier.
